Presenting brand-new writing for the Theatre from some of the UK’s most exciting new writers…

 

'Getting Closer' by Rohan Gotobed:
Synopsis: A woman’s life as she grows up, watches her father die, and has children of her own. Along the way she dreams, dances, and eventually encounters the end of the world. 
Bio: Rohan is a writer and director from Poole. He creates new work with his company Dorsetborn, including Georgia and the Iceberg (SW Tour) and Pride (National Trust). He's previously participated in Channel 4 Drama's New Writers Programme and the Mercury Theatre's Playwrights Scheme. He leads Poole Lighthouse's Young Writers groups, supported by Artful Scribe, and has recently written Destroy the Precious Things for MAST Studios' Young Company.

'If This Is It, There Should Be Music' by Trudie Shutler:
Synopsis: This is a play about four couples living in caravans, temporarily or otherwise, who have reached a crisis in their relationship. Whilst they struggle to find a way out of their personal mess, they ignore a much bigger crisis that is going on all around them. Bio: Trudie is a playwright and filmmaker based in Romsey. Her work has appeared at the Nuffield Theatre Southampton, Bristol Old Vic and Salisbury Playhouse. She was recently shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Playwriting and has recently completed a new play for the Youth Theatre based at the Romsey Plaza. Her short films have featured in festivals, and one of her moving image pieces was recently shortlisted for the John Ruskin art prize.
