The Artist:Entrepreneur Day from FAC and CMU comes to Southampton for the first time, taking place at The Stage Door on Saturday 2 July 2022 thanks to support from Arts Council England. Learn how to build a business around your music-making from a team of artist entrepreneurs and music industry experts.

The day will be hosted by three FAC artist entrepreneurs – Russell Marsden of Band of Skulls, an English rock band from Southampton. WREN who is Hailing from the South Coast of England and blends velvet vocals, hypnotic bass lines and sweeping guitars to submerge you into the electronic undergrowth. As well as Benny Bizzie - a British singer and songwriter and FAC Artist Ambassador with a soulful tone – who will each let you inside their individual artist businesses.

They will be joined by CMU’s Chris Cooke and a team of music industry experts to provide insights, ideas and lots of practical advice.

The day runs from 11.00 to 16.00 at The Stage Door, 78 W Marlands Road, Southampton, SO14 7FW.

Doors open at 10.30 for a 11.00 start. You can book free tickets to attend in person or to tune in to a live stream.

11.00-11.30 Making Money From Your Music
To pursue a career around your music-making you need to generate income from your songs, recordings, performances and fan relationship.

Getting an artist business going requires finding and engaging a fanbase. As your audience grows, the opportunities to generate income from your songs, recordings and shows increases. Plus there are many ways to access extra revenue by super-serving the core fanbase.

15.00-16.00 Choosing Your Business Partners
As your artist business grows, you’ll need to start working with other people – and companies – to unlock all your potential revenue streams.
